S3TW upholds principles of “service science and service innovation”

when cultivating talent. We host regional and national service innovation competitions each year, encouraging young students to utilize service design tools and methodologies with a human-centric spirit through on-site observation of demands which can trigger innovation and creativity within team members. All topics related to daily living, including education, finance, transportation, shopping, healthcare, exercise, diet, and travel can serve as starting points for innovation. We hope that our student teams can come up with proposals that reflect future innovations in service design and fully implement the spirit of “service science and service innovation.”

Each year, our regional (North, Central, South) Service Science Alliances conduct regional competitions to select outstanding teams for participation in national competitions where winning teams are awarded gold, silver, or bronze medals. A total of 12 teams participated in our 2019 competition, and the winning teams were from Yuan Ze University, National Taiwan University/National Chengchi University, National Kaohsiung Normal University, and Tunghai University. A total of 10 teams participated in our 2020 competition, and the winning teams were from National Chung Hsing University, Cheng Shiu University, and National Kaohsiung Normal University. The aforementioned teams all used empathy, smart technology, and service design tools to design innovative services that were convenient and heartwarming for users.
